The Protocol and Information Directorate organises all the representation,
communication and information events and activities of the institution. It comprises three Units (Protocol, Visits
and Press and Information) and a ‘works of art' section which manages the
Court's collection of works of art.
Protocol
The Protocol Unit has the task of organising and managing all events
and activities involving aspects of the representation of the institution and
of its Members. It is therefore
responsible for organising formal sittings, official visits, study visits from
national supreme and constitutional courts and international courts. It is also responsible for organising the
annual Meeting of national judges.
Visits
In the interests of ensuring that the
judicial institution of the European Union is better known, the Court of
Justice welcomes groups of visitors and offers them programmes tailored to
their interests (seminars for national judges, study visits for legal professionals
and law students and information sessions for non-lawyers).
Each year the Court of Justice receives
visits from approximately 4 000 legal professionals (national judges,
advocates, university professors, in-house lawyers, etc.) and some 10 000 other
visitors, mostly law students.
