The collection

The Library's collection covers the following subject areas :

The Library has a large collection of mono-lingual and multi-lingual dictionaries and a large number of official journals, parliamentary acts and other official periodicals. The collection currently comprises more than 200 000 books and the Library subscribes to approximately 1 000 periodicals.

All the Library's new acquisitions, including issues of periodicals, are examined for the purpose of finding :

articles on European Union law and other areas of law of interest for the institution's work.  The articles selected are then indexed and catalogued ;

notes on judgments of the Court of Justice, the General Court and the Civil Service Tribunal.

The Library's catalogue is computerised and accessible in the reading room. It is also available on the Internet.


Publications

a. Current bibliography

Monthly bibliography containing a complete list of all new acquisitions and all articles selected during the reference period. It is divided into two parts :

Part A : legal publications concerning European integration ;

Part B : general theory of law, international law, comparative law, national laws and other areas.

b. Legal Bibliography of European Integration

An annual publication in two volumes referring to the works and articles on European Union law acquired or examined during the reference period.

Since the 1990 edition, the bibliography has become an official publication of the European Union.

It contains a large number of bibliographical references, accessible by subject-matter and author indexes.

The annual bibliography may be downloaded free of charge from the EU Bookshop internet site managed by the Publications Office of the European Union.
