Operative part

Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 February 2004 establishing common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights, and repealing Regulation (EEC) No 295/91 must be interpreted as meaning that, for the purposes of setting the amount of compensation to be paid in the event of a long delay, where air transport is booked by a passenger as a whole and consists of two or more flights, the total distance from the place of departure of the first flight to the final destination must be taken into account, even if only the last of the flights concerned was delayed in such a manner.
