THE PRESIDENT OF THE COURT,
after hearing the Advocate General, N. Jääskinen,
makes the following
Order
1 On 21 November 2014, pursuant to Article 148 of the Rules of Procedure, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland informed the Court by means of e-Curia that it wished to withdraw its application.
2 On 27 November 2014, the Parliament lodged observations by means of e-Curia on the discontinuance and applied for an order that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland pay the costs.
3 On 28 November 2014, the Council lodged observations by means of e-Curia on the discontinuance and applied for an order that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland pay the costs.
4 Under Article 141(1) and (2) of the Rules of Procedure, a party who discontinues or withdraws from proceedings is to be ordered to pay the costs if they have been applied for in the other party’s observations on the discontinuance.
5 In the light of the circumstances of the case, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland must therefore be ordered to pay the costs.
6 Under Article 140(1) of the Rules of Procedure, Member States and institutions intervening in the proceedings are to bear their own costs.
7 The Commission must therefore bear its own costs.
On those grounds, the President of the Court hereby orders:
1. Case C‑507/13 is removed from the Register of the Court.
2. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is ordered to pay the costs.
3. The European Commission shall bear its own costs.
