Today the Festschrift "Scritti in onore di Giuseppe Federico Mancini", ("Essays in honour of Giuseppe Federico Mancini") published by Dr. A. Giuffré (Milan), was presented to the Court of Justice of the European Communities in Luxembourg.
The Festschrift has been compiled as a tributed to Judge Mancini on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Judge Mancini was titular professor of labour law and of comparative private law at the University of Bologna and has been a Member of the Court of Justice since 1982 serving both as Advocate General and as Judge.
The work is made up of two volumes, the first dealing with labour law and the second devoted to the law of the European Union. Written in five languages and totalling more than 1800 pages, the essays are a series of distinguished contributions from eminent professors and specialists in labour law and in European Community law including many past and present Members of the Court of Justice and the Court of First Instance.
A Festschrift forms part of an ancient university tradition according to which this rare distinction is reserved to the most eminent professors and bears witness to the widespread and deep influence of Judge Mancini's teaching in both Italian university circles and on the European stage.
The work was prepared under the aegis of the University of Bologna and in particular of the Law Faculty and the "A. Cicu" Institute.
