Today Ms Quin made an official visit to the Court of Justice of the European Communities.
She was welcomed by the President of the Court, Mr Gil Carlos Rodríguez Iglesias and the Registrar, Mr Roger Grass, prior to having lunch with the Members of the Court of Justice and the Court of First Instance.
Ms Quin then took part in a round table discussion with the Members of the Court of Justice. The principal topics discussed mainly concerned the proposals being made by the Court to the Council, which include the modifications necessary to the rules of procedure, the budgetary means placed at the disposal of the Court, the problems of translation and how the Court's jurisdiction should be organised for the future.
Following that session, Ms Quin took part in a further round table discussion, this time with the Members of the Court of First Instance. This concentrated on the perspectives for the Court's jurisdiction for the future, notably with regard to the increase of litigation resulting from appeals made against decisions of the Office for Harmonisation within the Internal Market (trademarks, designs and models).
Ms Quin's visit ended at 17.30.
