Registry

The Registry is responsible for maintaining the case files and for keeping the register of the General Court in which all procedural documents are entered.

The Registry is responsible for receiving, sending and keeping all documents, and for serving procedural documents on the parties’ representatives and on applicants for legal aid.

Representatives

Representatives referred to in Article 19 of the Protocol on the Statute of the Court of Justice of the European Union (agents appointed by the Member States or by the States, other than the Member States, which are parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, or by the EFTA Surveillance Authority, agents appointed by the institutions of the European Union, lawyers authorised to practise before a court of a Member State or of another State which is a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, and university teachers being nationals of a Member State whose law accords them a right of audience) must lodge all procedural documents and annexes thereto and any other case-related documents by means of the electronic application e-Curia.

warning As from 1 December 2018, e-Curia is the only means of exchanging documents between representatives and the Registry in all proceedings before the General Court. This affects all parties (applicants, defendants, interveners, other parties before the Boards of Appeal of EUIPO), as well as applicants for leave to intervene. Other methods of lodging documents (by post, fax, email or physical delivery to the General Court) are permitted only in specific cases provided for by legislation.

Applicants for legal aid

Applicants for legal aid who are not represented by a lawyer must lodge the legal aid application form at the Registry by post or by physical delivery to the General Court.

The legal aid application form may be accessed via the following link: General Court/Procedure.

No other form may be used. The legal aid application form lodged at the Registry must bear the handwritten signature of the legal aid applicant.
