Lodging documents with the Court of Justice

Documents can be lodged electronically, by post or, in person or through the e-Curia application. Representatives are advised to consult thoroughly the Rules of Procedure and associated texts before lodging documents.

Lodging procedural documents electronically

Agents or lawyers who are authorised to practise before a national court in an EU or EEA Member State, as well as national courts or representatives of the parties in preliminary ruling procedures, can lodge procedural documents through the electronic application “e-Curia”. Only those with authorised e-Curia accounts can submit documents through this system.

When using e-Curia, there is no need to send the document or certified copies of it by post.

Access the e-Curia application.

See our e-Curia page for further information about this application and how to open an account.

Lodging procedural documents by post

Procedural documents and any correspondence concerning cases before the Court of Justice can be sent by post to the Court of Justice Registry. The address is:

Registry of the Court of Justice
Rue du Fort Niedergrünewald
L-2925 Luxembourg

Alternatively, you can physically deliver procedural documents directly to the Registry offices during working hours, or to the Court’s reception desk outside those hours.

The fact that an email has been sent prior to the arrival of the physical document – by post or in person – will be taken into account in terms of procedural time limits. However, for the email to be valid, you must ensure compliance with the Rules of Procedure as regards both its sending and the subsequent lodging of the physical document.

Please use the following email address: ECJ.Registry@curia.europa.eu. To avoid technical issues when emailing, you should divide large files into smaller parts.
