Visiting the Library
The Library of the Court of Justice of the European Union is the most extensive EU law library in Europe. Legal professionals, university teachers and postgraduate students can visit the library upon request.
Admission to the Library
The library is open to staff of the EU Institutions, legal professionals, university teachers and postgraduate students. Students who have not completed their university studies cannot access the Library.
If you wish to use the Library, please contact the Library’s information desk, preferably using the “library” option on the contact form.
Consulting works
You can consult materials in the reading room, which holds collections on EU law, international law and the laws of EU Members States. You can request all other works in the Library’s collection at the information desk. The full list of available material can be consulted in the library catalogue.
Users from outside the Court can make photocopies for a small fee.
Loans
Only Court staff can borrow materials.

Opening hours
- Monday to Thursday: 9:00 – 18:30
- Friday: 9:00 – 17:00
Please note that opening hours are reduced during judicial vacations.
