Language unit assistants

Each legal translation language unit has a secretariat made up of a management assistants and several other assistants.

Management assistants implement the management decisions of the head of the language unit. They can be responsible for coordinating the work of the secretariat, making outsourcing arrangements in cooperation with the Planning and External Translation Unit, producing overview and management tables and, in some cases, assigning translation and revision tasks to lawyer-linguists.

The other members of the secretariat are mainly responsible for receiving translation requests, checking that all required elements are included in the document and that it meets all the requirements of form and quality. They are responsible for preprocessing the texts before they are assigned to the lawyer-linguists by identifying any element that can be usefully inserted into the translation project and for sending out the final translation. They also participate in freelance management tasks.

The requirements in order to work as a language assistant at the Court are specified in the competition and vacancy notices published on the EPSO site or on the Curia site.
