Biography and career
Born 1962 in Haapsalu (Estonia), Küllike Jürimäe obtained her law degree (equivalent to a master’s degree) at Tartu ülikool (University of Tartu, Estonia) in 1986. She continued her higher education at the Estonian School of Diplomacy, from which she graduated in 1992. In 2003, following a course of study at the Università degli Studi di Padova (University of Padua, Italy) and at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, she obtained a European Masters in Human Rights and Democratisation.
She was a public prosecutor in Tallinn (Estonia) for five years from 1986. From 1991 to 1993, she was a legal adviser and then, from 1992 to 1993, General Counsel at Eesti Kaubandus-Tööstuskoda (Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry). Between 1993 and 2004, she served as a Judge at the Tallinna Ringkonnakohus (Tallinn Court of Appeal, Estonia).
Ms Jürimäe was appointed as a Judge at the General Court of the European Union on 12 May 2004. She has served as a Judge at the Court of Justice since 23 October 2013 and has been President of Chamber at that court since 8 October 2021.
