Hearing: Case C-663/24 Streamz and Others

On Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 July 2026, the Court of Justice will hear Case C-663/24 Streamz and Others.

This case concerns a Belgian law implementing the EU directive on copyright in the digital market, which introduces a new right for press publishers, and grants authors and performers a right to remuneration from online content-sharing and streaming service providers. Google, Spotify, Meta, Streamz and others are challenging some of these provisions, arguing that they impose new obligations on them.

The Belgian Constitutional Court has asked the Court of Justice to clarify whether these measures are compatible with EU law, in particular copyright rules, the freedom to provide services and the freedom to conduct a business.
