EU Legal Summer School 2026
On Tuesday 30 June 2026, the Court of Justice of the European Union welcomed the participants of the second EU Legal Summer School. The visit to the Court formed part of the Summer School’s week-long job-shadowing programme in Luxembourg.
The programme is organised by the Legal Hub of Excellence – a working group of senior experts from various EU institutions based in Luxembourg – with the support of the International Federation of European Law (FIDE). The programme is designed for Master’s, PhD and postdoctoral students specialising in EU law from across the European Union who are eager to experience EU law in action.
In the morning, the participants were welcomed by Celestina Iannone, Director of the Research and Documentation Directorate.
They then attended a briefing on Case C-12/25 Bisdom Gent, followed by the hearing before the Grand Chamber of the Court of Justice. The morning programme concluded with a presentation on the work of the Registry.
In the afternoon, participants took part in a series of presentations and workshops where they met with Members of the Courts and staff, covering topics including
- the Court’s library
- the role of a Legal Secretary of a Judge
- the role of the Advocate General
The EU Legal Summer School forms part of the Court’s efforts to promote a deeper understanding of the EU’s judicial system among the next generation of EU law scholars and practitioners.
