Visit of Alexander Stubb, President of Finland

On Tuesday 29 September 2026, His Excellency Mr Alexander Stubb, President of the Republic of Finland, accompanied by a presidential delegation, visited the Court of Justice of the European Union.

President Stubb was welcomed by Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice, together with the institution’s Members from Finland: Niilo Jääskinen, Judge at the Court of Justice, and Heikki Kanninen and Tuula Pynnä, Judges at the General Court.

Following remarks by President Lenaerts, President Stubb gave an address in the “Helvi Sipilä Reception Area” at the entrance of the Rocca tower, which was named in honour of one of the first women to practise as a lawyer in Finland and an iconic figure in the fight for gender equality, both internationally and in her home country.

The visit concluded with a meeting with Finnish staff members of the Court.
