Second, since October 2024, the General Court also has jurisdiction to hear and determine requests for a preliminary ruling made under Article 267 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union in certain specific areas.

The General Court will soon be appointing its Registrar, pursuant to the fourth subparagraph of Article 254 of the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union and Article 32 of the Rules of Procedure of the General Court.

The appointment will be for a period of six years from the date of taking office, which should preferably be in January 2027. The rights and duties of the Registrar are governed by the Statute of the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Rules of Procedure of the General Court and Council Regulation (EU) 2016/300 (1).

The Registrar has custody of the seals and is responsible for the records. The Registrar is in charge of the publications of the General Court, in particular, the European Court Reports, and of the dissemination on the internet of documents concerning the General Court.
