Directorate-General for Multilingualism

Multilingualism is a core value of the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Under Article 42 of the Rules of Procedure, the Court is to set up a “language service staffed by experts with adequate legal training and a thorough knowledge of several official languages of the European Union”.

This service, known as the Directorate-General for Multilingualism, is the largest service within the institution. It guarantees that legal proceedings and documents can be accessed in all the official EU languages. These are
