Directorate-General of Administration
The Directorate-General of Administration, which operates under the authority of the Registrar of the Court of Justice, supports and enhances the Court’s performance by managing its most valuable asset, its people. It promotes their professional development and wellbeing in a productive, compliant and ethical work environment. Around 2 300 officials and other staff work at the Court.
The Directorate-General of Administration draws up the Court’s budget estimates. Once they have been adopted, with or without modifications, by the competent internal authority, the Directorate-General presents and defends them before the two branches of the European Union’s budgetary authority – the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. After this budgetary authority has approved the budget, the Directorate-General oversees its implementation. The Court’s annual budget is over €500 million per year.
The Directorate-General of Administration is also responsible for developing, maintaining, managing and protecting the Court’s buildings and technical facilities.
