Security rules and rules of conduct
Any visitors to the buildings of the Court of Justice of the European Union must respect certain security rules and rules of conduct.
- Adherence to timetable: Due to security checks, visitors must strictly follow the scheduled timetable for their visits.
- Security measures: The Court has strict security measures regarding access to buildings. Visitors must comply with instructions from security personnel and the welcoming guides. All bags will be checked upon arrival. Before your departure, please check the pages of the Luxemburgish police about prohibited weapons.
- Identification and access:
- All visitors must wear visible identification badges throughout their visit, which will be provided at the security check-in desk.
- For security reasons, visitors can only access the areas included in their visit programme.
- Behaviour and attire: Visitors are expected to behave discreetly and calmly, and to dress appropriately during their visit.
- Courtroom etiquette:
- Be seated before the start of public hearings, as no entry or exit is permitted during the hearing.
- Remain silent during oral arguments.
- Consumption of food or drinks is not allowed in courtrooms or meeting rooms.
- Photography and recording of the proceedings are prohibited.
- Mobile phones must be switched off to avoid interference with the interpretation equipment.
- Group supervision: Group leaders should supervise the members of their group during their visit.
- No smoking: Smoking is strictly prohibited in the Court’s buildings.
These measures ensure a safe and respectful environment for all visitors and staff at the Court.
