Attending hearings as a group

Attending a hearing as a visiting group

As a general rule, hearings are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the Court terms.

Groups interested in including a courtroom hearing in their visit should check the dates of Court terms in advance.

The Court’s Visits Service decides which hearing the visitors will attend. This may be based on

  • the group’s interests
  • the seating capacity of the courtrooms
  • the number of visitors present
  • the language of the case

Interpretation into the official EU languages is provided for scheduled groups.

The hearings usually start at 9:30 and vary in length.

During the hearing, visitors are requested to comply with the Court’s security rules and rules of conduct.

Occasionally, hearings may be cancelled or adjourned. In these circumstances, the Visits Service will suggest an alternative programme.
