Directorate for Buildings and Security

The Directorate for Buildings and Security manages all the buildings housing the Courts and the administrative services of the Court. To accomplish that task, it monitors the construction of buildings and manages and maintains all the assets.

It is responsible for protecting the Institution, fire prevention and health and safety at work.

As part of the EMAS policy (the Institution’s undertaking as regards the protection of the environment at the highest level), it monitors the establishment, implementation and updating of the Court’s environmental objectives and targets.

In addition, it is responsible for providing the Members, staff, parties to cases, visitors and departments of the institution with a professional logistic environment appropriate to the proper exercise of the judicial activity and, more generally, to the proper functioning of the institution: the Court Ushers service for hearings, tagging the audio recording of hearings, drawing up the transcripts of hearings, routing documents within the institution and to the embassies, dispatch and receipt of registered post, provision of furniture, robes, office supplies and technical equipment, management of the restaurants and cafeterias, establishment of the inventory, management of movable equipment, etc.

The Directorate comprises five units dealing with new works, building management and security, purchasing, the inventory and general services and moveable equipment.
