Celebrating 30 years of the General Court of the European Union

To mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the General Court of the European Union, a symposium was held on 25 September 2019 at the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The first members of the General Court, which was created by Council Decision of 24 October 1988, in fact took up their duties on 25 September 1989.

The symposium, entitled ‘The General Court of the European Union in the digital age’, took place in the presence of a large number of representatives of the European Institutions, both national and international, as well as law professors, judges, jurists and lawyers from all the Member States.

It focused on two themes: ‘Accessible justice’ and ‘An efficient and high-quality justice system’.
